MEET YOUR TEACHER
I'm Desiree — a jazz and soul vocalist, songwriter, and voice teacher with over a decade of experience performing and teaching, from community stages to rooms like Dizzy's, Art Basel, and GroundUP.
I have a bachelor's in Jazz Vocal Studies with a minor in Music Business, and a master's in Arts Presenting & Live Administration — but honestly, what I bring to a lesson isn't the degrees. It's years of standing on stages, losing my voice and finding it again, and teaching students from childhood through adulthood how to trust what they've got.
I don't believe traditional music education is the only way in. I believe in sustainable artistry — technique that respects your voice and your life, not one that burns you out chasing a sound that was never really yours to begin with. I want you to feel safe singing and creating something meaningful for yourself.

Yes. You don't need to already be good. You need to be ready to begin, and most of my students start right where you are.

No. Some of my students have never taken a lesson before.

Fill out a short application. If we're a good match, you'll book a free demo lesson. After that, I'll send you a link to book your first paid session.

It's completely free. It lets you experience how I teach, and it lets me make sure I'm the right teacher for what you need. If I'm not, I'll tell you kindly and point you toward a better fit where I can.

Getting started
Your space & your voice

It's an actively anti-racist, anti-colonial studio grounded in dignity and justice. Racist, queerphobic, transphobic, xenophobic, or otherwise hateful language isn't tolerated and can end a session and future eligibility.

Stop. Vocal training takes real physical effort, and you should never push through pain or strain. Tell me about any injury or condition beforehand, and see a medical or vocal-health professional when you need one.

I can't promise specific outcomes, such as auditions, income, or career results. What I can promise is honest feedback and real technique. Lessons are educational and aren't medical, therapeutic, or speech-pathology advice.

Yes. I keep personal information shared in sessions confidential, and I never sell your information.

They're for your personal use only. Please don't share or resell them, or put them into any AI tool. Your own original work stays yours.

Not right now. My studio is currently for adults (18+). I may open lessons for younger singers in the future.

Strategy Lesson: one 60-minute session, $100. Focused on exactly what you need right now.
Event Prep: one 90-minute session, $150. Built around a specific audition, gig, wedding, or showcase.

Yes. Once you've had a lesson or two, I offer ongoing options for students who want regular support. We'll talk about it if it's the right fit.

When you book through my scheduling page (Stripe or PayPal). Your session is confirmed once payment goes through.

Session payments are final and non-refundable, except as required by law. The one exception is if I cancel and we can't find a new time that works for you. In that case, you get a full refund for that session.

Life happens on both sides.
If you need to reschedule: Give me at least 24 hours' notice and we'll move your session to the next time that works for both of us, at no charge. Use the link in your confirmation email.
If it's less than 24 hours, or you miss the session: The session is forfeited. Depending on the situation, I may offer to rebook it for a $50 rescheduling fee.
If I need to cancel or reschedule: You'll never pay for that. I'll offer you the next available time, and if nothing works for your schedule, you'll get a full refund for that session.
Running late: Sessions start and end on time, so a late arrival doesn't extend your session. If you're more than 15 minutes late without letting me know, it's treated as a missed session.
Lessons & payment

We meet on Zoom. Before your first session, I'll send you a short setup guide so my piano and your voice come through clearly.

A reliable internet connection, a device with a working microphone and camera, and a quiet space where you can stand and move. Headphones are strongly recommended, and a second device is helpful if you're bringing a backing track.

Please do. Bring the songs that actually move you and that you’ve always wanted to sing.

Sessions may be recorded. If they are, I can share a copy with you for personal practice. The recording belongs to me, and by booking you agree to the media terms in your session agreement, which cover how I may use your name, voice, and likeness for promotion. Read that section before you sign.
